New Season Ticket Policy Regarding Donations

UMKC Athletics Friends, Fans, and Alums,

Thank you for supporting the 240-plus student-athletes that represent UMKC and our community.  Your generosity ensures that our student-athletes receive the best academic, athletic, and professional development during their time as a Roo.

We are contacting you today to let you know about changes pertaining to the Roo Club Athletic Fund and season tickets.  The new Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has removed a deduction related to athletic tickets and giving.  Effective January 1, 2018, donations tied to an athletic ticket benefit are no longer tax deductible.  This affects all future season ticket purchases as each ticket previously included a required “Roo Club Seat Donation.”

Due to this change, we are no longer including contributions tied to tickets.  Season tickets will have one price based on location.  The Niles Media Courtside Club will be available as a membership instead of a donation.  Any gifts made to the Roo Club Athletic Fund (unrestricted), capital projects, programmatic enhancements, sport specific funds, endowments and scholarships will continue to be tax deductible (please consult your tax advisor).

Regardless of the new tax changes, what remains constant is the impact of your financial investment.  We encourage you to continue your philanthropic support of UMKC Athletics with a gift to the Roo Club Athletic Fund.  You will have the option to make a contribution when you visit your online account, speak to us in person, or purchase through the mail.

We are available and happy to discuss, should you have any questions.  Please feel free to contact Mike Magnusson, Assistant Athletics Director for Development and Sponsorships, at 816-235-5952, or MagnussonM@umkc.edu.

Again, thank you, and Go Roos!

Carla Wilson

Athletics Director
