The UMKC Athletics department has launched its first ever multi-sport crowdfunding campaign.
Money raised will provide the resources to fulfill and enhance student-athlete development, including the support of essential team needs such as equipment, meals and travel, to name a few.
Crowdfunding uses the Internet, email and social media to raise gifts of varying amounts from a large number of people. The department’s goal is to inspire over 500 individuals to support the athletics programs by making a donation. There is no donation minimum and every gift goes toward the project.
Teams will have individual pages hosted on the “Launch UMKC” crowdfunding platform. The pages include a donor wall for individuals willing to share that they support the fund drive. Certain levels of giving will also include team gear or special recognition opportunities.
The most successful crowdfunding campaigns use the power of their follower’s social networks to increase visibility of the project. UMKC Athletics encourages alumni, parents, student-athletes, and fans to assist with this campaign by making a gift and sharing their giving experiences with friends and family.
